Synchronicity Developer Suite 3.3 Available With Enhanced Cadence Design Management and International Support

MARLBORO, Mass. - September 16, 2002 - Synchronicity, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of Synchronicity Developer Suite™ version 3.3 with enhancements in the management of Cadence Custom IC (CIC) designs and support for Japanese-language design collaboration. This new version upgrades the Developer Suite, including its component tools ProjectSync® and DesignSync®, and its role specific variants - the HLD, SOC and Physical Developer Suites. The Physical Developer Suite™, with the DesignSync DFII tool to manage Cadence design databases, contains new user interface features and customization capabilities. The interface has been extended to support comprehensive management of design hierarchies, sets of objects and individual files. An enhanced library browser is included for greater flexibility in the selection of objects. The Physical Developer Suite has added additional features to support user customizations with the inclusion of a library manager overlay and the support of a SKILL API. Physical design teams can use these features to customize the tool to match their design flow and needs. These enhancements give the user greater flexibility and reduce data management time.

The Physical Developer Suite will also be compatible with the recent 5.0 release of the Cadence CIC software. Customers moving to the Cadence CIC 5.0 release will be able to continue using Synchronicity for design collaboration and management. Synchronicity support for Cadence CIC 5.0 is available to select customers now and will be universally available in October.

In response to accelerating Japanese adoption, Synchronicity has localized ProjectSync, the collaboration tool in the Developer Suite, for the Japanese marketplace. All ProjectSync interfaces and documentation are now available in Japanese, enabling Japanese design teams to collaborate in their native language.

The SOC Developer Suite™'s can manage hierarchical relationships between the blocks in a large System-On-Chip and this functionality has been enhanced with the introduction of the Hierarchical Configuration Manager™ (HCM) version 1.1. HCM was first introduced earlier this year and gives SOC designers the unique ability to perform data management at the block instead of the file level. This functionality is already proving itself in globally distributed SOC design teams. The Developer Suite continues to be supported on all major platforms including Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, RedHat Linux and AIX. Reflecting the growing popularity of Linux in the IC design environment, Synchronicity will support RedHat Linux V7.1 in October.
